What comes with being a professional Flatland skimboarder?
Having fun with friends in a casual setting. And annoying little injuries.
Where do you think the future progression of our sport will occur?
It's hard to say. Around 2005 we thought flatland would go through the roof in a matter of years. I can't say that it has exactly done that. The quality of media, contests, equipment and tricks have undoubtedly improved and will likely continue to do so. However, flatland hasn't really made the main stream media and lacks full time professionals. That being said, the sport continues to sprout niche scenes internationally. The great thing about flatland is its universality. This sport can be done almost anywhere -unlike surfing which typically involves an ocean with waves. And its low cost nature is conducive to a struggling economy -unlike wakeboarding that requires an expensive boat. The growth may be a slow uphill climb but I do believe it will eventually reach a level similar to wake skating.
